In order to complete the Welsh 3000’s Challenge you are required to have been at the top of all 15 of the mountains over 3000 ft in Wales within the space of 24 hours, without using any form of transport.
The length is about 24 miles, but the walks to the start point and down from the finish point can take it to over 30 miles in total.

FridayMeet at Roaring Meg, Stevenage, Hertfordshire at 12pm where you will meet your other team mates, team leaders and support crew.
The journey to Snowdon is about 5 hours long including service stops on route. We will check into our accommodation in Snowdonia where we will spend the evening. A cooked meal is provided at the lodge before a recommended early night.
The challenge begins from Crib Goch so an early start is required. We will make our way to Snowdon from here.
From Snowdon we will walk down the Llanberis track, turning off to walk down to Nant Peris where we can drop off and pick up kit or refreshments. From here we will continue to the next check point at Llyn Ogwen where our bus will be waiting with refreshments.
Meeting the minibus between sections allows you to pack lighter, only carrying supplies needed for that section.
If we make Llyn Ogwen by 2pm there will be the option to continue the challenge without a break.
The final section will take on the Carnedd section. After reaching the top of Foel Fras (the final summit) we will retrace steps towards Carnedd Uchaf and descend into Bethesda where the vehicle will be waiting for us.
We expect we will finish between 12am Sunday morning and 6am if we did not stop for a rest. If we did we will continue Sunday morning from where we finished the day before.

Welsh 3000's Q&A's
The Welsh 3000's is harder than the 3 peaks challenge as there is no 5 hour bus journeys to rest and sleep. The welsh 3000's is constant walking for up to 24 hours!
However the challenge is a trek rather than a run and as with many of our challenges it is as much mental and physical. The challenge is suitable for anyone who can walk comfortably for a day in the mountains and has the mental toughness to stick at it!
How should I train for the Welsh 3000'sThe best and most relevant training you can do would be to walk up and down mountains or hills. We appreciate that this is not always possible due to location but anything more vertical than flat will help prepare you for the real thing.
If you don't have access to any hills then you can create your own in the gym. Walk up hill on the treadmill, climb on the climber and stepper and get up and down the stairs. Any movement which is upwards is good!
Failing the first two training options the next best thing would be to improve the strength of the same muscles required in the challenge. Performing exercises such as squats, lunges and step ups will help increase the strength of your leg muscles.
What should I do for food?We provide a meal on Friday evening when we reach the accommodation, if on the Saturday we have returned to the accommodation we will provide another meal. Water will also be available each time we rendezvous with the minibus to top up supplies.
You will need to bring your own food for when you are walking, you will be able to restock after each section though so you can keep some on the minibus.
Of course not!
The group willl led by experienced guides. You are not allowed to walk alone this challenge.
How much water should I bring? We will provide enough water for the entire weekend but feel to bring your own sources of hydration. You will need to bring your own bottle
Keeping yourself hydrated is very important both before, during and after each mountain.
