August 24th London to paris complete!
Doug, John and Alan all completed the London to Paris cycle over the weekend. The 180 miles were conquered from Friday to Sunday. Do you have a bike and enjoy cycling? Why not sign up to this challenge next year from the UK's capital to the Eiffel Tower!

August 17th runner completes 2 runs in 2 days!
Mike Cook completed a 10 and 30km run last weekend, making him the most valuable member of any challenge central team. He earned 8 more valuable points for the red team to keep them in the team challenge. |

August 15th record attendance for cc tri
Challenge central had a record turn-out this Sunday for the CC triathlon. A total of 16 members completed the event. Jon, Alex and Jack all completed their first ever triathlon. Great effort all! |

August 9th 3 peak success!
Members of Challenge Central completed the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales over the weekend. Rain, wind, cold and wet weather couldn't stop the peakers on this great success. Each member earning a valuable 10 points for their teams. |

August 3rd Ian and fran complete 300 mile bike
Ian and Fran both completed a Stevenage to Amsterdam bike ride over the weekend. This has earnt both the red and black team a valuable 18 point to keep them both in the race. Congratulations to Ian and Fran Levy this is a great achievement. |

August 3rd Lee Lawrence becomes an ironman
Lee Lawrence became the 2nd member of Challenge Central to become an Iroman Sunday, completing the Bolton Ironman in 14 hours! Lee earnt the yellow team a valuable 9 points to take them top of the table. |

July 18th 7/12 marathons complete
Alan, Malcolm, Mike and Mark complete number 7 of the 12 in 12 challenge Sunday in Stevenage. Malcolm returned from injury and Mark completed his first ever Marathon. |

July 11th runners complete events to earn valuable points
Linda and Mike completed the Bushfield Joggers 10k in Peterborough Sunday, Amy was also in action completing a 'Race For Life' at Fairlands. |

July 5th Duncan, nigel and Declan become triathletes
Nigel and Duncan took on the Cowman sprint to complete their first sprint triathlons. Declan was also in action completing his first half ironman distance. Lee Lawrence, now a tri veteran was leading the way with his second half in a time of 5hrs 52. |

June 27th 3 time Ironman!
Alan took on the Nice Ironman in France on Sunday in PB time of 12hrs 43. The event brings Alan's Ironman medal collection to 3 in the past year with another in Mexico still to come. |

June 21st June 3 Peakers
The participants completed all 3 mountains without stopping in the June 3 Peak Challenge. The event was a high scoring event for the team challenge with the Red Team now taking the lead. |

June 20th One step closer to an Ironman
Lee became half an Ironman this weekend by completing the official UK Half Ironman. With 6 weeks to go to the main event lee has another Half in two weeks. |

13th June Black team turns up the heat
Doug, Barry and Ben all ran half marathons today earning a total of 12 points for the black team.

13th June Linda is at it again
Linda completes her first 10k in little over an hour. Mike who ran a marathon yesterday was back in action to pace Linda around the Bishop Stortford 10k.
Mike earned 11 points for the reds in just one weekend! |

12th June 6/12 marathons complete
Mike and Alan battled their way through injuries to complete the South Down trail marathon. Malcolm missed the event through sickness but promises to bounce back and find another marathon to stay in the 12 in 12 challenge. |

6th June Challenge Central Triathlon
The 3rd Challenge Central of year was a success with the opportunity for members to collect points for their teams. It also meant the completion of Stage 1 on the fitness grading system for Paul Ingham and Wayne Balaam. |

6th June Linda smashes her 5k target
After walking the 'race for life' last year, Linda has been working towards a target time of 35 minutes for the 5k event. Despite an operation set back this year she managed to get enough training in produce a 28.54 time smashing her pb.
Linda credits much of her success to Malcolm's help in the Challenge Central Running Club. Congratulations to you both. |

31st May Burpeeathon
The event was a massive success as members (plus a few random's) completed 25,000 burpees in 2hrs and 2 mins! We managed to raise £300 for the teenage cancer trust. Congratulations to all

24th May Nigel takes the plunge
Nigel completed his first half marathon this weekend in Coventry. Nigel crossed the line in 2hrs 6 minutes despite hot conditions. Nigel has thrown himself into running, swimming and biking which can only mean one thing.. Ironman! |

24th May 5/12 marathons Complete
The 12 in 12 boys were at it again this weekend. This month the marathon was in Edinburgh in some rather challenging heat conditions. Highlight of the trip was Wayne Balaam finishing his first ever marathon in 4hrs 20. |

20th May Burpeeathon Challenge Central will be attempting to complete 25,000 burpees on Bank Holiday Monday. The event will help raise money for lee's charity - Teenage Cancer Trust.
Entry is £10 and will really do need all the help we can get. 10am at active4less. |

21st May Lee Tri's for charity
"As many of you will know due to my endless updates about Triathlons i am aiming to complete IRONMAN UK in August.
Until now i was doing this for my own personal sense of achievement. That all changed after our neighbor knocked on the door selling wristbands for The Teenage Cancer Trust. He then went on to tell us that his 21 year old daughter had been diagnosed with a rare form of soft tissue cancer and that he was raising money for a new unit that is being built at Addenbrookes Hospital, this unit will be dedicated to young people with cancer"

18th May Doug goes 10k Mad
After completing his third London Marathon in March 2010, Doug has gone to town on the 10ks. Completing 3 in just 8 days!
Doug took part in the Silverstone, St Albans and Welwyn Garden City 10k's. He also managed to knock off a massive 50 seconds off his personal best to bring his time down to 53.09.
Doug only started running about 5 years ago and his achievements are an example to us all. |

17th May Double Triathlon Weekend.
Lee completed the Merchant Taylor Olympic Distance Triathlon in 2hrs 47 minutes, smashing his target time of 3 hours.
Alan was also in action competing in a 3/4 Ironman distance (1.8m swim, 84 mile bike, 19.6 run) triathlon in Lydd, Kent. Still waiting on conformation of result but the distance was completed in sub 9 hours.

9th May Triathlon Season Begins
Lee Lawrence is leading the way with the start of the triathlon season by completing the Gredon Sprint triathlon in 1 hr 29. Lee will be taking part in UK Ironman in August 2010. |

25th April 4 out 12 marathons complete
Today was a special day for Challenge Central as 7 of our members completed the marathon distance. 4 members took on the Stratford Upon Avon marathon with another 3 members running the London Marathon.
Performance of the day goes to Ben Dower who completed his first ever marathon at the age of 18!

18th April Flitwick 10k Only 3 member of the club made it to Flitwick after injury and illness took down 3 more of our team mates. Doug, Lee and Alan all completed the event in PB times. |

12th April Open Water Swimming Challenge Central now has access to open water swimming facilities in Hertfordshire. The club will be able to offer swimming sessions from May 2010 |

29th March 3 out 12 Marathons complete
The 12 marathons in 12 months challenge is now well under way as the team completed another marathon in Pembrokeshire. The coastal marathon was another off road event but that didn't stop Malcolm, Lee or Alan as they all stormed to the finishing line.

18th March CC becomes a Tri Club
We said we were going to do and sure enough Challenge Central has now become an official Triathlon Club registered with the British Triathlon Association.

Ironman Complete
Alan became a 2 time Ironman by completing Ironman China in just under 14 hours in a rather tough climate of 35 degree heat.
Alan is due to take part in the Ironman Triathlons in both France (June) and Mexico (November)

6th March Knebworth 10k
After the cancellation of the event a week earlier many of our members were unable to make this years 10k but the Challenge Central flag was still flying with 8 members getting involved. |

29th February 2/12 Marathons complete
Mike, Malcolm and Alan completed the 2nd marathon of year in an event which lead them through the muddy fields of Leicestershire. Slower times than Gloucester for all but a cross country marathon gives a good variation to the list!

24th January Gloucester Marathon Complete
Mike, Alan and Malcolm all completed the marathon in sub 4 hrs with Malcolm just 3 sec's off his own Challenge Central record of 3hr 26 min's and 51 seconds.

14th January Dibley to be an Ironman
Lee Dibley is the third member of Challenge Central to book an Ironman Triathlon in 2010. Lee Dibley will join Alan in France for the Ironman in June, with Lee Lawrence competing 5 weeks later in the UK Ironman. |

14th January Shannen Wins an award Our youngest member of the the club, Shannen has won a school award for outdoor pursuits with her involvement in the 3 peaks challenge and the dragon boat race in 2009. Congratulations Shannen, excellent achievement. |

12th December 1 Mile of Walking Burpees In celebration of Alan's birthday 4 members of Challenge Central took on a mile's worth of walking burpees. Using the studio at active4less the 13.5 meter length was repeated 126 times until the participants crossed the line for the final time.

7th December Isobel Hospice 4k Complete Congratulations to Lisa and Linda who completed their first running event. Stanborough Lakes was host to the christmas fund run where our girls learnt why its about about the medal!

9th November Challenge Central Triathlon
Ok, so it wasn't a highly participated as we wanted but we did manage to get four members to brave the swim, bike and run in Stevenage.
The event was good fun and we are hoping to have a bigger turn out on the next one. |

3rd November Gobi Challenge - 140 miles
The Mongolian Gobi is a land of extremes. Its imposing sand dunes, towering mountains and seemingly endless sun-baked desert plains are home to wolves, bears, vultures and nomadic goat herders.
There is a presentation about the event on Tuesday the 10th at marriots school, Stevenage. 7.30pm. More about the challenge

1st November Stevenage Half Marathon Excellent effort and achievements all round with many of the group completing their first Half Marathon. Full Marathon next? |

18th October Mass Attack Duathlon Lee and Alan took part in the Thuxton Duathlon. Both were feeling a hard weeks training catching up with them which left them rather disappointed but at least there were medals!

20th September Triathlon Virgin! Lee Lawrence has completed his first sprint Triathlon in the Milton Keynes Black Sheep Tri. Alan also completed in the Olympic distance version of the event setting a new Personal Best. Emma and Duncan were also on scene to see what it's all about.

11th September London Duathlon
