Dragon Boat racing has ancient Chinese origins. In China the dragon is a symbol of water and is said to rule the rivers and seas. Dragon Boat racing is thrilling and to take part in and fun to watch. No previous experience is necessary only a willingness to be up for a challenge.
Teams of ten paddle furiously to the beat of a drummer at the front of the boat whilst a professional helmsman make sure the boat steers a straight course. All teams compete with one another over a short course of around 250 meters on a timed basis. The fastest teams battle it our in the finals.
The still waters of Fairlands Valley Lake offer an ideal venue for Dragon Boat racing. Whether you're taking part or just there to watch. All amenities are on hand and there is ample parking. On the day there will be an outdoor barbeque so however big your appetite you won't go hungry!

Dragon Boat Racing Itinerary
At the start of the day there will be a draw to decide the order of races. Shortly after, there will be a safety briefing and a brief tutorial on the best way to row and work as a team.
Racing will commence after that with a short break in the early afternoon for lunch. There is a cafe available for food and drink to be purchased.

You only need to turn up in clothes you will be comfortable in, safety equipment will be provided on the day.
You may want to bring a change of clothes as you may get wet.
