The Brecon Military Challenge
>> Single day, five-stage, multi-discipline event in the Brecon Beacons; the training ground of the SAS.
>> Circular route including Cycling, Trekking and Kayaking disciplines. Fully supported by the Challenge Central team from start to finish.
>> Starting at first light, the challenge will include 5 stages:
Stage 1 – Cycle from the accommodation to the Pen-Y-Fan mountain.
Stage 2 – Trek up and over Pen-Y-Fan (SAS Selection Mountain).
Stage 3 – Cycle from the mountain to the Kayaking Lake, Pontsticill Reservoir.
Stage 4 – Kayak circular route of the reservoir.
Stage 5 – Cycle from the reservoir back to the accommodation.
Event Day
>> 06:00 – Breakfast
>> 06:30 – Event Briefing
>> 06:45 – Start Stage 1 – Cycle 16 miles to the Storey Arms Mountain Centre
>> 08:15 – Start Stage 2 – Trek up and over Pen-Y-Fan
>> 10:30 – Summit Pen-Y-Fan
>> 12:00 - Arrive at YHA Brecon Danywenallt for lunch
>> 13:00 – Start Stage 3 – Cycle 8 miles to Pontsticill Reservoir
>> 13:45 – Start Stage 4 – Kayak Reservoir, approx. 2 miles
>> 16:30 – Start Stage 5 – Cycle 13 miles to accommodation
>> 17:30 – Complete the challenge

>> Kayak hire and instruction from a local specialist.
